

Charlie Musgrave has been a member of the Sun City Concert Band since 1997, both as a French Horn musician, conductor and now associate conductor. Charlie was a scholarship student at the Shurtleff Conservatory of Music, Alton Illinois; obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Illinois; and obtained his doctoral education at the University of Northern Colorado.
Charlie is a licensed educator in both Illinois and Indiana. He taught instrumental music in the Alton, Illinois Public Schools; was Vice President of Development for Monticello College; Assistant to the Vice President for Development, University of Northern Colorado; Chairman of the Music Department for the school programs in Chesterton, Indiana; Director of Development at Interlochen Fine Arts Academy, Michigan; Vice President of Sales, Muzart Music Corporation in Chicago; and completed his career at Indiana State Prison, Michigan City, Indiana as an adjunct Professor of Education for Indiana University.
He is presently a life member of the Masons, Scottish Rite Masons, Shriners, and an active member of the honorary music fraternity, Phi Beta Mu.
Since retirement, Charlie has been highly involved in developing area musical organizations. During his tenure as Minister of Music at Willowbrook UMC in Sun City, the choir grew from 40 to 102 members. He was also the conductor of the Sun City Concert Band and a film award winning Conductor of the Desert Brass Band.
