Carl Eckhardt, a retired U.S Air Force Judge Advocate, hails from Ritzville, a small wheat farming community in Eastern Washington.
He played cornet and trumpet continuously from fifth grade through college, where he was in the Washington State University Cougar Marching Band.
While in college he also learned to play the guitar and mandolin. In law school at the University of Idaho, he formed an acoustic folk-rock group that once performed for Bob Hope.
