Jane Higgs
Born in a small Iowa town, she was involved in music from an early age. Encour-
aged by her high school music teacher, she attended Wayne State Teachers Col-
lege and graduated with a Bachelors in Music Education. She received a Masters
in Choral Conducting from Colorado State University and taught in Fort Collins
and Durango, Colorado until retirement. She also served several years as an ad-
ministrator in Durango 9-R elementary and jr. high schools.
After retiring to Sun City, she began singing with several area dance bands: The
Tommy Thompson Orchestra, The Johnny Madson Big Band, The Encores, The All
Stars and The Wolfe Pack. After watching a Sun City Band Concert directed by
Charlie Musgrave,she joined the band and has played saxophone for the last 24
years.
She has taught and played viola, saxophone, guitar, ukulele, bass, orchestra, band,
choir, & piano. She presently is in her 20th year as Music Director of the Congre-
gational church of Sun City. She uses her vocal talents singing with the Sun City’s
Rhythm Ramblers and the Sun City Ukuladies and is in her second year as Concert
Band President
